Application in Powder Coating
Powder coating has become a vital component of powder coating due to precipitation barium sulfate’s exceptional performance, minimal demand for basematerials, and great dispersibility. Application in High Solid Coatings
A particle size of approximately 0.7-0.8m precipitated barium sulfate is required for high solid gloss finish paints or coatings; larger particles will effect the surface gloss level, while smaller particles will influence the amount of binder used due to the influence of higher surface area. Precipitated barium sulfate with a particle size of less than 0.7m can be used to separate pigment and has a deflocculating function, allowing the amount of pigment to be reduced to a very low value; precipitated barium sulfate with a particle size of less than 0.7m has no effect on viscosity over a wide range, so it is possible to use precipitated barium sulfate according to the highest percentage in the recipe given As a result, precipitated barium sulfate reduces VOC while also replacing more expensive pigments, lowering formulation costs and providing a favorable opportunity. The white powdery precipitated barium sulfate can be used for coating pure black and will not damage the color. Because the refractive index of barium sulfate precipitation is similar to that of ordinary resin, the combination of precipitated barium sulfate is not white but clear. As a result, light grey will not appear in carbon black, and precipitated barium sulfate can also minimize VOC in black paint. Oil absorption and specific surface area of carbon black and precipitated barium sulfate differ significantly; by increasing flocculation resistance, the effective role of black carbon can only be increased marginally; however, using precipitated barium sulfate instead of a large amount of carbon black will reduce base demand and viscosity, and thus VOC.
